URUSHI, The Japanese Art of Lacquering

Lernen Sie über Urushi und probieren Sie diese zeitlose Kunst selbst aus. Der Begriff „Urushi“ bezieht sich sowohl auf die alte Tradition der Lackkunst als auch auf den Lack selbst, der aus dem Harz des „Lackbaums“ gewonnen wird. Wir beginnen mit einer kurzen Einführung in die Kunst des Urushi Lacks. Alle Teilnehmenden haben dann die Möglichkeit den Prozess durch praktische Arbeit Hands- on mit Reisschalen selbst zu erleben.

Learn about Urushi, and also experiment with the exciting yet timeless art of Urushi yourself. The term ‘Urushi’ refers both to the ancient tradition of lacquer art and to the lacquer itself, obtained from the resin of the ‘lacquer tree’. We will start with a short introduction to the Japanese art of Urushi, followed by an opportunity for all participants to actually experience the process, through hands-on work with rice bowls.
