Der Begriff „Urushi“ bezieht sich sowohl auf die alte Tradition der Lackkunst als auch auf den Lack selbst, dessen Rohstoff aus dem Harz des „Lackbaums“ gewonnen wird. Das Ergebnis der Verwendung von japanischem Baumlack ist eine haltbare, strapazierfähige und polierbare Oberfläche, die sowohl lebensmittelecht als auch wasserfest ist. In diesem Mini-Workshop verwenden wir natürliches, ungiftiges Pflanzenharz, um glänzende japanische Reisschalen wertzuschätzen, to recreate und zu reparieren.

URUSHI: open your eyes to shiny new possibilities – thanks to Mother Nature!

The term ‘Urushi’ refers both to the ancient tradition of lacquer art and to the lacquer itself, whose raw material is obtained from the resin of the ‘lacquer tree’. The result of using Japanese tree lacquer is a durable, hard-wearing polishable finish which is both food-safe and water-proof. In this mini-workshop, we will use this natural, non-toxic plant resin to inspire the recreation, recovering and repair of gleaming Japanese rice bowls.
